ADVERBIALS CLAUSE

Adverbial clause is a clause (the clause) that functions as an adverb, which describes a verb.

Adverbial clause is usually classified based on the "meaning / intent" of the conjunction (conjunctions which preceded it).
A.    Time clause
common conjunctions: when, before, after, since, while, as, as long as, until,till, etc. (conjunctions that answer the question "when?"); hardly, scarcely, no sooner, etc.
function:  These clauses are used to say when something happens by referring to a period of time or to another event.
Example :
•    You may go home after you close the door
•    I don’t want leave you before you finish your study

B.    conditional clauses
common conjunctions: if, unless, lest
function: These clauses are used to talk about a possible or counterfactual situation and its consequences.
Example : 
•    if I met her, I will sory with her
•    unless it rains, I will pick her up

C.    purpose clauses
 common conjunctions: in order to, so that, in order that
 function : These clauses are used to indicate the purpose of an action.
 Example :
•    I must study had so that I pass in exam
•    I always keep the  money in other that I can buy something

    D. reason clauses
common conjunctions: because, since, as, given
function: These clauses are used to indicate the reason for something
Example :
•    Since I don’t have a girl friend, I always stay at home
•    I cannot buy something because I have no money

E.    result clauses
common conjunctions: so...that
function: These clauses are used to indicate the result of something.
Example :
•    I work hard so that I have much money
•    He is so bold that many girls like him

F.    concessive clauses
common connjuctions: although, though, while
function : These clauses are used to make two statements, one of which contrasts with the other or makes it seem surprising.
Example :
•    I still love him although he leave me
•    Though he has much money, he never lend me the money

G.    place clauses
common connjuctions: where, wherever, anywhere, everywhere, etc. (conjunctions that answer the question "where?")
function: These clauses are used to talk about the location or position of something.
Example :
•    he went away wherever he found his darling
•    he stayed in everywhere

H.    clauses of manner
common connjuctions: as, like, the way
function: These clauses are used to talk about someone's behaviour or the way something is done.
Example :
•    he worked as aa teacher
•    she walks as though she is a model
