CONDITIONAL SENTENCE


Conditional sentence

Conditional Sentences are also known as Conditional Clauses or If Clauses. They are used to express that the action in the main clause (without if) can only take place if a certain condition (in the clause with if) is fulfilled. There are three types of Conditional Sentences.


1. Tipe I memiliki pola sebagai berikut:
If clause
Result clause
If clause : If + simple present (V1/Vs)
Result clause: Simple future (will + V1atau simple present (V1/Vs)

Example:
If water evaporates,it becomes gas.
I will go to dining table if I am hungry.

             FACT :
             Mengubah kata if dengan on condition that, provided, atau unless

2. Tipe II (present-untrue condition)
Tipe II memiliki pola sebagai berikut:
If clause: If + simple past (V2)
Result clause: would + V1
NB: jika kalimat menggunakan be, maka be yang digunakan hanya ‘were’
Example:
If I were millionaire, I would buy an island and make my own country there.
She would be able to go if she didn’t sick.
FACT :
                    1. Ubah kata if menjadi because
                    2. Ubah tense menjadi simple present dan hilangkan modal
                    3. Ubah kalimat negatif menjadi positif dan sebaliknya



3. Tipe III (past-untrue condition)

If clause: If + past perfect (had+V3)
Result clause:  Would have + V3
example:
If you had told me about the problem, I would have helped you.
I wouldn’t have broken my foot if I hadn’t slipped on the stair.
FACT :
                   1. Ubah kata if menjadi because
                   2. Ubah tense menjadi simple present dan hilangkan modal
                   3. Ubah kalimat negatif menjadi positif dan sebaliknya
